Endeavour Mining after the reset: governance under a microscope

The dismissal is a matter of record; the harder question is whether the board built the controls that would prevent a repeat.

What happened

In January 2024, Endeavour Mining announced the termination of Sébastien de Montessus as CEO and later detailed the impact on his remuneration, following the board's earlier disclosure of serious misconduct. The company's 2025 AGM and management information circular set out the board's ongoing governance work.

The fundamentals lesson

For West African-focused producers in particular, governance is not an ESG check-box; it is a component of the discount rate. Endeavour's operating assets are real and valuable, but the market will keep pricing an extra premium for uncertainty until the governance reset is old news, not recent news.
